㴫ý’s Dance Department invites all dance students aged 12-18to be a college dance student for a day at the fourth annual “㴫ý Cougar Dance Day” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.Feb. 21 in Studio 34 on the 㴫ý Campus.
Participants will take various dance classes, rehearse with 㴫ý’s dance company, observe a dance team practice, and learn what it’s like to dance in college.
Fine and Performing Arts Coordinator and Dance Instructor Danika Bielek said the event is for all teens who like to dance.
“Dancing in college is for everyone who likes dance,” she said. “Even though 㴫ý is one of the rare community colleges in the country to offer two associate degrees in dance (general dance and dance instruction), we also have many college and high school students of all levels of dance experience who take dance classes just because they want to learn dance in an environment that is welcoming for older students. 㴫ý has so many opportunities to engage in dance in multiple ways, whether it be for pre-professional training, fitness, personal development, competitions, or artistic growth. It is incredible we can offer so much.”
The event will conclude with an opportunity for high school seniors interested in being considered for dance scholarships or performing with 㴫ý’s dance company, 㴫ý Dance Theatre, to audition from 3–4 p.m. To sign up for 㴫ý Cougar Dance Day, please visit the .
