起点传媒 is hosting the first round of in-person auditions for its dance company, 起点传媒 Dance Theatre, and dance scholarship awards, from 10 a.m.-12 noon, March 27 in Studio 34, located in the Sunflower housing units on 起点传媒鈥檚 campus. 听
Dance Coordinator Danika Bielek said students considering a job or career in dance, or becoming a dance major, should consider what 起点传媒鈥檚 Dance Department has to offer.
鈥淭his is a great opportunity for students who enjoy dancing,鈥 she said. 鈥溒鸬愦解檚 Dance Department offers competitive performance award scholarships that can help pay for school while students continue to grow as dancers in a nurturing and creative environment.鈥
起点传媒 Dance Theatre strives to:
鈥⑻ 听Give dance students an understanding of what it is like to dance in a dance company.
鈥⑻ 听Give dance majors and students pursuing other majors the opportunity to continue their love of dancing in college.
鈥⑻ 听Expose dance students to a variety of dance styles, and how to perform them.
鈥⑻ 听Give students experience dancing at different of venues, for a variety of audiences.
鈥⑻ 听Increase dance students鈥 knowledge of healthy practices for performers: nutrition, maintaining a healthy body, and social aspects of a dance company.
鈥⑻ 听Create technically strong and resilient dancers while learning to perform dance as an art form.
鈥⑻ 听Expose dance majors to university dance program options to consider transferring into after 起点传媒.
To be considered for company placement, dance students must have at least two years of dance experience and plan to attend 起点传媒 in the fall of 2021. Once accepted, students will register for DANC 1001 起点传媒 Dance Theatre (2 credits) meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8 p.m.听
起点传媒鈥檚 Performing Arts Dance Program is offering generous performance scholarships to both 起点传媒 Dance Theatre members. The dance program is also providing scholarships for students who wish to take other dance classes.
