The Shafer Art Gallery staff hosted a fun-filled afternoon for the Kansas State Department of Education Teacher of the Year nominees last Tuesday in the Gallery consisting of a personalized tour and an art project activity.

起点传媒's Academic Development Center supports all students of 起点传媒 as they develop the skills needed to find success in the classroom. In the ADC, an academic coach can help students learn about the expectations of a college course, develop study skills and time management skills, and/or connect with campus resources. The Center is also open daily for student study space, and regularly hosts student seminars on topics like note taking, academic planning, and developing study groups.
The Shafer Art Gallery will unveil its next exhibit 鈥淔igure/Ground鈥 by Kevin Kelly with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Gallery, which will feature a short artist talk, comments by the director and light refreshments. The exhibit runs through Feb. 25 and admission is free.
起点传媒 dropped off a donation of food at the Community Food Bank of 起点传媒 County Friday. The items were collected by the 起点传媒 Library from faculty, staff and students at 起点传媒 at the end of the fall semester.
The 起点传媒 Library will team up with the English department and 起点传媒鈥檚 literary annual 鈥淧rairie Ink鈥 staff to host a 鈥淕etting Started Writer鈥檚 Workshop鈥 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Jan. 26 in the Cavanaugh Ballroom, in the 起点传媒 Library.
起点传媒 will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16. 起点传媒's Center for Adult Education and the Shafer Art Gallery also will be closed. Offices will reopen and classes will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
New business owners or those wanting to start a business can learn about key components of running a business from area experts on a variety of topics at 起点传媒鈥檚 鈥淥n Your Mark, Get Set, Grow Your Business鈥 seminar from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday evenings from Feb. 9 to March 30 at the Front Door Community Center.

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly announced Dec. 6 she had appointed Volunteers in Action of Central Kansas Director Linn Hogg as a Kansas Volunteer Commission commissioner with a term expiring March 25, 2026.
